"Center Tree" is my second posting for Fresh Paint Daily Painters.  The square painting format lends itself to more modern compositions but is still based on an actual scene from the countryside in Virginia, near the area where I grew up.  I edited out the mountains in the background and some of the foreground trees to simplify.
This daily painting practice is proving to be a real challenge.  I have been working for days on some small paintings but don't feel they are ready to posit.  I realize how much I rely on layering techniques, which take time, to get the effects I want.  I also need to see a painting sitting in the studio for awhile to know if it is done.
"Center Tree" is available for purchase on my website.
