ARTIST STATEMENT

Growing up near the picturesque Blue Ridge Mountains in Virginia, Patricia's early passion for drawing and painting led to a BA degree in Fine Arts/Art History from the College of William and Mary.  Now living in New Hampshire, she has been represented by galleries in New England for over 20 years.

In her work, she is guided by the visions of tonalist painters, both contemporary and historical, as she follows an intuitive feeling to portray the essence which drew her attention.  Through thinly layered oil paint and medium, she creates unique, heartfelt paintings characterized by subtle tonal shifts in light and color, evoking a soft, dreamlike state.

"My work is an expression of my emotions, sensed and reflected from my environment.  There is an underlying sense of awe, wonder and curiosity guiding me through this process and leading me into a story, which is the piece of my work that I find most intriguing.  My paintings are a juxtaposition of a world which exists and is visible with one created from imagination, memory, experience, and yearning for the intangible."
